SOME THOUGHTS AND QUESTIONS TO PONDER

"Thou wilt shew me the path of life; in thy presence is fullness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."   - Psalm 16:11

Many people, including believers, may find themselves asking "why"  when it comes to the tough issues and situations we face in this life.  This is specifically true during a time like we face with the coronavirus sweeping our country and the world.

This is hard to understand and, at times, can be difficult to portray.  We know God is omnipotent (all knowing) and has ultimate control of everything that goes on in this world, and in our personal lives.  But what makes this tough is seeing how nature plays into this.  Let me show you what I mean:

In Genesis chapter 3 the earth went through 1 of at least 7 changes it will face or already has faced.  When Adam and Eve decided to defy God and eat of the tree of good and evil not only did life for humans change but nature in and of itself changed.  Where mankind was provided everything needed to live a long, healthy life simply by living by God's commands humankind lost that ability and opportunity.  Genesis 3:17 says:

"And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;"

The key is found in the phrase "cursed is the ground."  Bottom line: we live on cursed ground...THIS WORLD NOW HAS A CURSE ON IT!  And since that point in history this world is moving in a specific direction...opposite of the direction God had originally created for.  And God preset a specific amount of time the world would continue in this direction before He stepped in and solved the problem.

The GREAT news is God has always implemented a way out of the curse.  For most of the Old Testament is was through the Nation of Israel and for you and I it is through His son The Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-10, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

So when we face tough times, it's not that God doesn't care, it's simply the fact this earth is cursed and it is set on a coarse towards destruction and with that comes problems, sickness, hurt, pain, sorrow...but be assured, in Christ there is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance and ultimately Victory of this curse (Galatians 3:13).
